Newspaper Cuttings
The Lesbian and Gay Newsmedia Archive has over 200,000 cuttings and copies from the 'straight' press covering all aspects of gay life from the 1890s to the present time. Both the local and national (broadsheet and tabloid) press is well represented and there are some from overseas. Currently we only have cuttings from 1895 to 1969 indexed. The bulk of continuing work centres on the indexing of the tens of thousands of remaining cuttings and any new ones that are donated to LAGNA. The collection currently comprises four sequences, classified in the following way:
- by year - a chronological sequence for the period from 1895 to 1969
- by source
- by person
- by subject matter
- by region
- example headlines
Please note that due to copyright reasons we are unable to exhibit complete newspaper cuttings online. If you would like to view any of the cuttings or you would like to arrange for copies to be sent to you then please contact enquiry@lagna.org.uk to make the necessary arrangements.
